Three Athletes Sign Letters of Intent

Three more Ursuline athletes will soon be college athletes.

Katie Gay (soccer) signed with St. Edwards University, Catherine Moore (rowing) signed with the University of Pennsylvania, and Megan Wampner (soccer) signed with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Wednesday, February 5.

For Megan, the accomplishment is one of many. A dual-athlete, she received TAPPS 2nd Team All-District and Academic All-State for softball in 2019 and Presidents’ Cup Champion and WAGS All-Tournament Team for soccer in 2018. A special surprise during signing day, was finding out that she received 2nd Team All-District for this season.

“Playing soccer in college has always been my goal,” Wampner said. “I’m excited that I get to continue to play in a competitive environment while also getting a good education in the field of my choice.”

Megan plans to study Information Technologies and Web Sciences.

Katie loves the sport just as much. The 2018-2019 season awarded her a TAPPS Honorable Mention and All-District for offense. Her favorite position is Forward.

“I love getting the ball and being able to do anything with it,” said Gay, who has played soccer since the first grade. “There’s a lot of freedom within the sport.”

Katie can’t wait to play college soccer and get to know her new city next year. She plans to study Environmental Science and Policy.

A three-year member of the Varsity 8+ for Dallas United Crew, Catherine started rowing her freshman year of high school. She was captain for her club team during the 2019-2020 season and her boat placed 1st in the Youth Women’s 8+ at the U.S. Rowing Central Youth Regionals two years in a row.

“I love the community of crew,” Moore said. “Your crew is your family and you support and push each other. When you are all moving together, the feeling of taking a stroke and gliding on the water is surreal.”

She is excited to join a team with such welcoming and inspiring teammates.
