Valerie Hover (soccer) signed with St. Mary’s University- San Antonio on April 13.

She has played soccer for 14 years, and most enjoys the position Center Back as it allows her to read the game.

“I can see the whole field and really envision the game,” she said.

What does she enjoy most about playing soccer? The friendships she’s made.

“I don’t play for myself,” she said. “I play for the girls around me. I love the sisterhood that comes with playing soccer and the bond that I have with my teammates.”

She lives by the phrase, “enjoy the moment.”

“Sometimes we all get sucked into what’s happening next,” she said. “When we do this, we don’t really get to live in or enjoy the moment.”

Valerie plans to study Mechanical Engineering next year.
