Sports Week Wrap-Up 11/5

Cross Country

The UA Running Bears toed the line at the TAPPS 6A State Meet against the state's best private schools. They placed 3rd as a team, one point behind runner-up Tomball Concordia Lutheran, and only 15 points behind team champion San Antonio Antonian. 

Devon Vopni '21 placed second overall, only four seconds behind the individual champion. The Bears defeated rival Houston St. Agnes by four points, with the top four teams finishing closer in points than any state meet in the last 25 years.

Team scores were: Antonian 62, Tomball 76, Ursuline 77, and St. Agnes 81.

Katherine Reynolds '21 placed 12th, and Amanda Hogan '23, who led early but battled sickness in the second mile of the race, held on for 14th place. Tess Corrales '24 surged to 23rd place, and Zoe Smith '23 placed 30th overall. Anna Fent '21 and Kate Thornton '24 took 35th and 36th, respectively.

Devon Vopni '21, Katherine Reynolds '21, and Amanda Hogan '23 all qualified to receive Academic All-State Honors with their Top 15 finishes coupled with their strong academic records.

Volleyball

Volleyball plays in the first round of the TAPPS 6A Playoffs with a game vs. District 1-4th place finisher. (Won't know results until games are concluded tonight.)
