Volunteer Opportunity Descriptions

Mentor Moms

Mentor Moms is a volunteer group of upperclassmen Ursuline moms whose goal is to help new families as they embark on their Ursuline adventure. MMs answer questions and are a constant source of information for new families throughout their first school year. Prior to the start of school, MMs coordinate initial gatherings of new moms and new students. Once the school year begins, communication from MMs is provided primarily through email and phone contact as needed. Volunteers are needed from all three upper classes.

Homecoming Mums

Each fall, help is needed making Homecoming garter mums for the Cistercian and Jesuit Homecoming festivities. No experience is necessary, just the ability to use scissors and follow directions. Each year, mum sales fund additional Mothers’ Club support activities.

Mother/Daughter Mass & Brunch

For this fall tradition, volunteers from Mothers’ Club provide a beautiful breakfast reception in Haggar Center after a special Sunday liturgy. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, decorations, and clean up.

Freshman Convocation Reception

Each year, the Freshman Class is formally received into the student body with a special Liturgy. This is another fall tradition which requires volunteer support to provide a welcoming reception for the freshmen and their families following the service. Volunteers are needed to help with set up, decorations, and clean up.

Admissions Open House Hospitality

Volunteers are needed to assist the school with planning and implementing a reception for prospective families who come to visit the school during the annual Admissions Open House. The Open House is held the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving.

Sophomore Serviam Reception

The members of the Sophomore Class receive their Serviam pins in a service held in February. The ceremony symbolizes the commitment of the class to live the Ursuline motto, Serviam. Mothers’ Club volunteers assist the school by providing a reception following the event.

Junior Ring Ceremony Reception

The members of the Junior Class receive their school rings in April in a very special ceremony. Mothers’ Club volunteers assist the school by helping to host the reception after the ceremony.

Mother-Daughter Fashion Show

The Mothers’ Club organizes and hosts this annual event each spring. All Ursuline moms and daughters, alumnae, and special friends are welcome to attend. The Fashion Show includes senior girls and moms modeling the latest fashions, a luncheon, raffle prizes, and opportunities for photos with daughters and friends. Many volunteers are needed to help plan and execute this wonderful, community-building event.

Academic Awards Receptions

There are two ceremonies in the spring that recognize students for their academic accomplishments: the Junior-Senior Academic Awards and Freshman-Sophomore Academic Awards. Volunteers are needed to assist the school with the receptions held following the awards ceremonies.

Graduation Reception

Every May, volunteers are needed to assist with set-up, decorations, and break-down duties relating to the school’s graduation festivities. The beautiful, tented reception is held outdoors on the lawn of St. Joe’s.
