Megan S. '27 successfully completed Arete: An Introduction to the Classic Program at the University of Dallas. This was an intensive two-week college experience living on UD’s campus. The classes focused on the ancient Greek philosophical and literary traditions, primarily in Plato, Aristotle, and Sophocles, then the Medieval and Renaissance traditions with Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and two Shakespeare plays, and finished with exploring excellence and virtue in modern poetry from Keats to Wilbur and short stories by Faulkner and Flannery O’Connor. At the conclusion of the two weeks, Megan presented her final paper to the UD faculty and her peers. She also earned three college credits.
