Ana Meza ’25 recently completed Duke University's DukeEngage Uganda program, directed by Megan Madonna '11. Despite the program’s pivot that kept Duke students based in Durham while continuing collaboration with Makerere University students in Kampala, Ana played a key role on a cross-country, cross-time-zone team based in Durham, North Carolina.

Working closely with Makerere University engineering students in Kampala, Ana helped develop Neo-Resp, an affordable continuous respiratory monitoring device for newborns. Through this international collaboration, she demonstrated creativity, resilience, and a commitment to designing meaningful solutions for global health challenges.
