Sheltering in place can’t stop these two Ursuline athletes from putting in hard work and pursuing their collegiate dreams!
Jordan Bynoe (rowing) signed with University of Wisconsin-Madison and Kate Murphy (soccer) signed with Syracuse University on Wednesday, April 15.
Jordan’s interest in rowing sparked after participating in a Jesuit Rowing Camp in the 8thgrade.
She loves the sport because of the relationships it creates.
“The type of bond that forms when you’re with your teammate struggling through a practice can’t be matched by any other sport,” she said.
Home practices are the new normal. "They've been tough, but I have continued to do my erg workouts, run, and go on bike rides,” she noted.
She looks forward to rowing under Wisconsin’s amazing coaching staff, next to her new teammates next year.
Jordan will study Political Science with a minor in Business.
Kate is excited to play at Syracuse this fall.
“I love the school and the people,” she said. “I can’t wait to play at the collegiate level.”
Kate is making the best of home practices by doing workouts given to her by her club coach or by going online and looking up things to do. She also thanks her siblings for doing drills with her.
Her soccer career began when she was just three years old and she has enjoyed all the friends the sport has given her and the life lessons her coaches have taught her.
The best piece of advice she’s ever received? That hard work beats everything else.
“At the end of the day, if you are the hardest worker, you will eventually achieve your goals,” Kate reflected.
