Madelyne Davis '24 Shoots 1000th Career Point

Basketball player Madelyn Davis '24 shot her 1000th career point on December 15, 2022, finishing the night with 11 total points.

"It feels great," she said. "I am super excited to have accomplished this goal of mine as a junior in my basketball career."

She plays Point Guard and has been playing basketball since she was three-years-old.

What motivates her? Her love for the game.

"I have a want to play at the next level while striving to become not only the best basketball player that I can be, but also a better teammate," she said.

Her next goal is to reach 1,500 points and lead her team to a State Championship before she graduates Ursuline in 2024.

A few years ago, her mom gave her the advice, "Have the memory of a goldfish."

"To me, it means that you need to forget and play on," she said. "If there is a bad pass, or a shot doesn't go in, or a possession that doesn't go as planned, you have to move on and play through it. If you get caught up in your mistakes, then you can't overcome them."

She sends a shoutout to her fellow BasketBEARS, "I couldn't have reached this goal without my awesome teammates that I get to call my best friends. I'm excited and proud of the direction we're headed towards. A big thank you to Coach Nester, Coach Tierney, and the rest of the Athletics Team for everything they've done so far and for guiding us each day. GO BEARS!"

Aside from basketball, Madelyne also enjoys working out, playing the piano, writing songs, and hanging out with her family and friends.

Go Bears!
