Ursuline Academy of Dallas received Bryan’s House 2021 Wisdom’s Hope Award at Bryan’s House Pathways to Inclusion: Luncheon, Wisdom’s Hope Award, and Special Needs Summit.
Ursuline began serving Bryan's House in 1998, sending a group of seniors to volunteer there for Senior Service.
“Bryan’s House is a very valued partner in our Senior Service Program,” said Service Coordinator Gabi Merani. “Our students laugh and play with the kids and have always served with joy while being at this site. This award shows us how valued our students are to their programs, and I am very humbled by our school being honored.”
Ava Goldammer ’20 remembers her experience volunteering with Bryan’s House fondly.
“There was a little girl in my class that I was paired with that would run up to me and give me the biggest hug every time I walked through the door,” she said. “I wouldn’t have wanted to start a Monday morning off any other way!”
A highlight from her time at Ursuline, Chiamaka Osuagwu ’20 misses seeing the joy on the faces of the kids.
“This opportunity helped me understand that service is not just about acting for others,” she said. “It’s about building connections with others to foster a community where service is the norm. Bryan’s House showed me this community firsthand.”
Ursuline looks forward to continuing Senior Service volunteer work at Bryan’s House next year.
The Wisdom Hope Award
The Wisdom Hope Award recognizes community leaders in service to Bryan’s House and the City of Dallas.
Wisdom was a child with special medical needs whose family was facing homelessness after he was discharged from the hospital. With nowhere to go, Bryan’s House made it possible for the family to secure housing and financial stability through our Family Supportive Services program. Through this program, they provide hope and stability for families of children with special needs.
