Ursuline Students Honored with Ursuline Education Network Student Service Awards

Two Ursuline Academy students have been recognized for their outstanding commitment to service and leadership with the Ursuline Education Network Student Service Award, presented during UA Live on March 10. Ursuline Academy President Dr. Andrea Shurley joined Mission Integration Coordinator Mrs. Angie Jakubik in recognizing this year’s recipients.

The award honors students who embody St. Angela Merici’s 10th Legacy: “Never fail to render your neighbor the services that may depend on you.” Recipients see a need, take action, and inspire others to serve with a Christ-like spirit.

The Ursuline Education Network (UEN) is a global community of Ursuline-affiliated schools that fosters collaboration, strengthens the Ursuline charism, and promotes connection among students and educators around the world.

Alessandra V. '27 was honored for her service through cultural advocacy. In her award-winning essay, Alessandra described performing mariachi harp at a community library program titled “An Afternoon of Mariachi.” Alongside her teacher, she shared traditional music while teaching attendees about the history and cultural significance of mariachi, highlighting the harp’s often-overlooked role in the genre. Alessandra reflected on how Serviam can build meaningful connections across cultures through music and storytelling.

Eloise C. '27 was recognized for her work with Dallas’ Meals on Wheels Teen Board. As the organization’s communications officer, Eloise helps coordinate events and connect student volunteers with program leadership. In her essay, she explained that the experience is about more than completing service hours—it is about building relationships, strengthening community, and sharing Christ’s love in response to St. Angela’s call to serve.

Please join us in congratulating Alessandra and Eloise for living out the spirit of Serviam through their dedication to service.
