- Performing in the Mixed Honor Choir were Sonia Stadler '20, Mi-Lan Hoang '21, Ryan Luedtke '22, and Anastacia Chu '23.
The Ursuline Academy Choirs were also invited to join the Hockaday School Choirs for their 4th annual Martin Luther King Celebration held on the Hockaday Campus. The Friday, January 17, program featured the combined choirs, under the direction of Dr. Raymond Wise from Indiana University, in a program of African American spirituals and hymns in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
This year’s event was dedicated to the students, faculty, and staff of the schools who demonstrate how a community cares about the well-being of others both inside and outside of the classroom. The legacy of Dr. King is lived through the collective strength, kindness, and generosity for our fellow man. Special guests for the program included keynote speaker Janiece Evans- Page, the Paul Quinn College Choral Performers, the Allen Trio Project featuring Jerome Allen, and our UA Choirs students.
Finally, four Ursuline musicians were selected for the 2020 Texas Private School Music Educators Association All-State after auditions that were held across Texas from October through December of 2019.
- Chosen for the All-State Choir: Mi-Lan Hoang '21.
- Members of the All-State Orchestra also include Cecilia O’Brien '20, Anastacia Chu '23, and Emma Luo '23.
The musicians joined with the other select performers in the All-State Clinic and Convention, held from January 23-24, in Richardson in the Grand Concert at the Eisemann Center on January 25.
