Congratulations to our 2024 National Merit Semifinalists! We are so proud of their accomplishments!
Approximately 16,000 students across the U.S. were named National Merit Semifinalists this year. These seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for the 6,870 National Merit Scholarships offered in the spring.
Meet our National Merit Semifinalists
Ana Meza '25
Ana is President of the Biomedical Sciences Club, President of the National Honor Society, and a member of the Community and Inclusion Leadership Team. She is also a Ursuline ambassador, representing the school at events for prospective students, alumnae, etc.
Ana says she plans to study biomedical engineering in college. "I love the intersection between improving human health and technology design. In the future, I hope to get involved with research and design affordable medical devices."
When asked about an Ursuline class she loves, she shares that Dr. Wright's multivariable calculus class is among her favorite. "Dr. Wright does a great job of modeling a college math course by allowing us to deepen our understanding through problem-solving by ourselves and with our peers," she said. "This has allowed us 'multi girls' to form a strong bond as we challenge ourselves with college-level math. By working with difficult concepts, I have grown in resilience, improved my study habits, and grown my love for math. I can't wait to take on OU Math Day in November!"
Logan Foster '25
Logan is involved in many clubs and organizations at Ursuline. She's the President of the UA Robotics Club, Soprano I in the Jazz Choir, and serves as a Senior Rep for the Community and Inclusion Leadership Team, Black-Student Union, and Environmental Science Club.
Logan loves her technology classes (she says, "I basically live in the Fab Lab"), which align with her plans to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering. "A mechanical engineering degree would allow me to continue learning how to build, design, and code systems and eventually make some revolutionary products of my own. Mechanical engineering is also very interdisciplinary, so I don't have to just learn engineering - I can also dabble in economics or psychology."
She's really enjoying Computer Science Advanced Topics Honors, particularly because of Ms. McGurgan's encouragement to lean into creativity and go above and beyond. "It's probably one of the only classes with 'dessert homework - as coined by Ms. McGurgan. I have to convince myself to STOP working on it!"
