Meet Jeffery Smith, Social Studies

Why he loves Ursuline:

“I love that I get to work with such a talented and supportive pool of faculty and staff, and that I get to teach Ursuline students who show up each day with a passion and vigor to learn that is contagious,” he said.

Why he loves teaching Social Studies:

“I enjoy giving students the ability to better understand the world around them by understanding how events in the past have shaped their lives today,” he said.

On working on Ursuline’s Garden:

Smith has worked hard with students to create a garden in Ursuline’s “ditch.”

His favorite part about the project is being able to offer students the opportunity to learn outside of the traditional “four-walled” classroom.

“The garden allows students to get dirty while learning more about food production and how the natural world around them impacts them,” he said. “It also allows them to simply get outdoors- to pause and disconnect.”
