Why he loves Ursuline:
“I greatly appreciate the emphasis on community,” he said. “I receive so much support from the people around me, it is easily one of the things I love the most.”
Why he loves teaching Science:
“Science is all about curiosity,” he said. “Your motivation shouldn’t be, ‘I want to be right.’ The motivation a scientist has should simply be ‘a desire to know.’”
He continued, “A subject that drives curiosity and promotes deep engagement with every single part of the world around us is so inspiring to me. I can’t imagine a world where we simply ‘exist to exist.’ I love seeing the students engage with their own curiosity and hope that through teaching science, I can encourage more students to simply find enjoyment in the exploration of the world around us.”
On being a coach for the Esports team:
Flickinger was one of three coaches for the inaugural season of the UA Esports team.
The seven-game spring season began in late February, and concluded in the final match on April 5, in which UA Esports defeated Nolan Catholic.
What does he love about working with the team? The overwhelming support and positive attitude all the players have regarding the game and their teammates.
“They have a strong desire to learn how to play the game and that is more than I could have ever asked for,” he said.
