March Student News

We’re always excited to hear what Ursuline students are up to!

Here are some accomplishments shared by our students.

On Saturday, February 29, Ursuline and Cistercian students from the CAUSE for Life Club served at In My Shoes, a nonprofit and home for pregnant mothers affected by homelessness. The student volunteers performed the mothers' chores: sweeping, mopping, and dusting the home.

Three students from Ursuline led successful fundraising campaigns as part of 2020 Dallas Student of the Year with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Heather Hurley '21 (Team Love of Humanity), Sophie McCauley '21 (Team Serviam), and Leena Tran '20 (Project Cure) were all honored at the Students of the Year Grand Finale Gala on Sunday, March 1, for completing their campaign and successfully leading a team of fellow students (many of whom also attend Ursuline), peers and family members to reach fundraising goals.

Students of the Year (SOY) is a national seven-week philanthropic leadership initiative for exemplary high school students who compete to raise funds and awareness in support of LLS’s mission: to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma (blood cancers), and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This year’s campaign ran from January 11 to March 1, with nine teams competing across Dallas (21 Ursuline students across all teams).
