Bishop's Gala Volunteers

Lotus Johnson '25, Isabella Lenhoff '25, Natalie Smith '26, and Olivia Hudak '28 volunteered at the January 25 Bishop's Gala. The Bishop’s Gala is Catholic Charities Dallas’ annual fundraiser, benefitting the 11 service groups and over 39 programs of Catholic Charities Dallas.

Serviam in Action

Haley Gaither '26 was awarded the "Young Adult Volunteer With the Most Hours" at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) for 2024. She clocked over 300 hours for the year, spending most of her time in adoption counseling and foster. Congratulations, Haley! 🐾

 

First the Perot, then the World (Quest)!

World Affairs Council DFW recently congratulated the UA Junior World Affairs Council for being the most involved group so far this school year! They have received free passes to the Perot Museum. The competition consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, including 10 sections of 10 questions. The World Affairs Councils of America decides the 10 topics based on the most relevant global issues of that year. Congratulations to the following students who competed in the WorldQuest competition on January 28:

Congratulations to Catherine Rippel '25 for setting the 50 freestyle pool record of 25.27 at Jesuit's David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center!

 

Angel Tree Recap

Students generously provided 208 gifts for the Christmas Angel Tree program. Our amazing faculty contributed 116 gifts. The Ursuline community's Serviam Spirit assisted 5 local charities: Catholic Charities, Aids Service of Dallas, Association for Independent Living, St. Vincent De Paul, and Brother Bill’s Helping Hand. 

  

Words of Wisdom

On the first day of their final semester, our Seniors attended a Grad Panel of recent graduates. Elizabeth Jiede '24 (Baylor University), Erin O'Sullivan '24 (University of Notre Dame), Gabriela Marques '24 (Boston University), Ryan Bomersbach '24 (University of Florida), Larkin Devening '24 (University of Oklahoma), Ava Mychel Rodriguez '24 (The University of Texas at Austin), and Marley Shepherd '24 (St. Louis University) shared some valuable insight about the transition to college. 

 

Coding Superstars 👩‍💻

Congratulations to to Harper Mentgen '27 and Taylor Duda '26 who are winners of the Carnegie Mellon University Computer Science Academy's National Fall Creative Task Competition Showcase. These also happened to be their very first coding tasks in their Computer Science Programming I courses!
