Guidelines for Course Changes

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Schedules are set for the 2020-2021 school year.

  • Angela/Ursula Cohorts: Once hybrid learning begins on September 8, to keep students physically distanced six-feet apart in classrooms, we are unable to make changes to a student’s cohort.
  • Elective Changes:
    • For an elective to an elective or an elective to a free change: After school starts on Monday, August 24, students can change an elective or change to a free as long as they only have one free period in a semester. There must be availability in the proposed course, and students need to be aware such a change breaks their schedule, and they risk getting different teachers for some or all their courses. Students must have a parent's written permission. The deadline for an elective change is Friday, September 4.
  • Core Class Changes: After September 8, if a student wants to transfer from an honors class to a non-honors class or from a non-honors class to an honors/AP class (assuming she is eligible and has received permission from department chair), the student needs to talk with her personal counselor. The personal counselor will talk to the teacher and department chair (if necessary). Next, the personal counselor will work with Registrar to see if such a change is possible (due to enrollment). If the schedule change is possible, the personal counselor and Registrar need to receive a parent email indicating permission for the change. If all requirements are met, then the student may make the change.
  • Teacher Change: We do not make teacher changes.
