Career Day at the Academy took place on October 25.
Over 80 presenters came to speak to our students about their various careers in areas such as law, finance, health, engineering, architecture, and more.
Students also attended grade-level specific professional development programs to learn about finding their passion and preparing for their future.
Speaker highlights:
Mia Huncharek '16, Cyber Security Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard
What does she love most about her job?
"The people!" she said. "I work with a mix of officers, enlisted personnel, and government contractors. Everyone I work with is incredibly skilled, and their work ethic is truly inspiring."
Lauren Asher, Innovation Engagement Specialist at Southwest Airlines
What is advice she would give someone pursuing this career?
"You need to network and maintain connections. It is important when going through a corporate recruiting process to maintain contact with all of your connections," she said. "Also, never say 'no!' The airline industry changes on a dime, so it is important to have a 'yes' attitude and mindset when coming into work."
Lauren Albert Sand '07, Neurosurgeon
What does she love most about her job?
"It does not feel like a job," she said. "I am privileged to be able see the central nervous system every day and help people while doing it!"
A huge thank you to all of our amazing presenters!
