Exploring Careers

Career Day at The Academy took place on March 31.

Over 75 presenters came to speak to our students about their various careers in areas such as law, finance, health, engineering, architecture, and more.

Students also attended grade-level specific professional development programs to learn about resumes, finding a career they love, internships, and college resources/navigating transitions.

Speaker highlights:

Brittany Garcia '10, Public Affairs Specialist

What does her day consist of?

"I draft tweets for our twitter page, draft communications for our executive team, host programs in the community, work with special agents and analysts to highlight cases," she said.

June Change '12, Commercial Real Estate

What kind of person would thrive in this industry?

"This industry is for those who like to problem solve and can adapt to any environment," she said. "Many days your are people facing so knowing how to present your ideas well is important."

Kristen Ohlenforst '96, Psychologist

What are the attributes of someone in this field?

"Someone who is curious, empathetic, possesses creativity, can self-reflect, and collaborate," she said.

Morgan Uber '11, Sports Broadcasting

What was your favorite part about Career Day?

"I enjoy paying it forward to Ursuline students and knowing I could make an impact in the lives of these young women," she said. "When I was a sophomore at Ursuline in 2009, Career Day is what set me in the trajectory for my sports broadcasting career after hearing from a broadcast journalist, Stephanie Hockridge (Ursuline '01). She became a mentor when I was choosing my college and am grateful for the opportunity I had as an Ursuline student to meet her and other industry professionals at Career Day."

A huge thank you to all of our amazing presenters!
