Exceptional Years of Service: A Series

The Exceptional Years of Service wall outside of Haggerty Library features Ursuline faculty and staff members who have been employed by The Academy for over 20 years. We are pleased to introduce Ms. Suzy Frasco.

For more than two decades, Suzy Frasco has been a beloved presence on the Ursuline Academy of Dallas campus. Her journey is a beautiful testament to the power of Serviam, the spirit of St. Angela, and a lifelong commitment to walking humbly with God.

“It has been told thee, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: only to do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

This scripture has guided Suzy’s life since high school and became the foundation of her vocation. Long before arriving at Ursuline, she served her community through college outreach, Junior League events, and as a tireless fundraiser and volunteer. But it was in her role as a disciple of Christ, first as Director of Religious Education and later as a Campus Minister and Theology teacher, that she found her greatest joy.

The summer of 2000 marked a turning point. A phone call from Sister Margaret Ann led to an opportunity in Campus Ministry at Ursuline. “My daughter had just graduated, and I loved the school,” she recalled. “I never imagined I could teach there, but that call changed everything.” Her younger daughter was considering attending Ursuline, and the timing felt divinely inspired.

What began as a new role quickly became a lifelong mission. “In those early years, after school I would take the nuns for ice cream or sit and listen to their stories about teaching, about their missions in Cuba and Mexico. I saw myself as continuing their legacy.”

After 25 years at Ursuline, Suzy reflects on countless memories: attending former students' weddings, receiving joyful updates about their accomplishments, and even baptizing their children at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. “It never fails that one of my students will walk in with her husband and new baby, and I’m reminded again how God weaves these beautiful circles.”

There have also been moments of profound sorrow. “I’ve lost some of my precious girls too soon to illness, to tragedy. Those are the hardest times. But in each moment, joyful or sorrowful, I know I’ve walked with them in faith.”

So much has changed in education since Suzy began teaching. “We used book carts for research. Computers were just word processors. Today, students rely on Google and Purdue OWL for quick answers.” And yet, in her classroom, one thing has remained constant: Jesus.

“I still teach with a handheld Bible. We pray. We talk about peace and God’s presence in their lives. No matter what tools they use, they need a strong foundation in faith.”

She’s also brought that foundation abroad, chaperoning Ursuline students on Global Education trips from China to Peru, where the spirit of Angela is alive in every school.

By her count, Suzy has taught more than 2,000 young women at Ursuline—freshmen through seniors—and every one of them has left a mark. “I want my students to know: to whom much is given, much is expected. Serviam isn’t just a motto. It’s a way of life.”

When asked how she hopes to be remembered, her answer is simple: “As someone who lived her life in Christ, who continued the legacy of the nuns who inspired me, and who taught every girl that she can make a difference through love, faith, and service.”
