Esse Receives All-American with Four Marks of Distinction

The National Scholastic Press Association awarded Esse 2020 the honor rating of All-American with Four Marks of Distinction in the following categories: Content; Writing and Editing; Photography, Art, and Graphics; and Design, earning 469 out of 500 points. 

This issue of the award-winning magazine features a diverse set of work from Ursuline students, including poetry, short stories, plays, photography, and paintings. It is the 54th edition of the magazine.

The works follow the theme of "Voice." Esse 2020 was produced by the Ursuline Literary-Art Magazine Club, which was led by Editor-in-Chief Abigail Mihalic '20 and Art Editor Justine Walker '20. Monica Prachyl Cochran '71 and Kate Kairies Schenck '97 moderated the club.

Esse 2020 was dedicated to English Teacher Kyle Lee, for his ability to foster imagination and instill confidence in his students through his creative writing class. The Esse staff thanks him for all of the time he has spent supporting Ursuline writers and shaping this edition of the magazine.
