Interim Co-Coordinators for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Named

Ursuline has named interim co-coordinators for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for 2020-2021. Additionally, please read a message below from Belinda Grant-Anderson:

As a Catholic school with Ursuline Identity, we are guided by Catholic Social Teachings as essential pathways for living the Ursuline mission. Action for social justice is fundamental to our core value of Serviam, as well as to the spiritual formation and education of our students to be empowered to create positive change in the world.

Ursuline has both the obligation and opportunity to ensure that students are educated about what equity truly means, and how we can act to eliminate the barriers. Systemic racism in America has a tremendous destructive impact on our country. We recognize that the Ursuline community – Board, faculty, administration, students, alumnae and families – has much to learn in the areas of diversity, inclusion, equity, and justice; that we must acknowledge and act against racism; and that we must support the Black community as they highlight the social injustices they face.

We have taken initial steps on this journey with the creation of the Community & Inclusion section of the school’s website: https://www.ursulinedallas.org/about/community-inclusion. Here you will find the Ursuline Academy of Dallas Statement on Community & Inclusion (endorsed by the Board of Trustees, November 2019) along with numerous resources you can use to educate yourself on racism, learn how you can participate in this crucial dialogue, and take action. In the coming weeks and months, this is also where you’ll find updates on the C&I Roadmap being developed by the Board of Trustees and initiatives being implemented at the school.
