On Saturday, January 25, the Ursuline Academy of Dallas community celebrated the 10th annual International Serviam Day (ISD), embodying the school’s mission of service and compassion. Across the United States, Ursuline students, alumnae, parents, and friends dedicated their time and talents to meaningful service projects, making a tangible impact on communities near and far.
Making a Difference in Dallas and Beyond
Feed My Starving Children – Dallas, TX
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit dedicated to fighting hunger on a global scale. On Saturday, ISD volunteers packed 126 boxes, providing 27,216 meals to children in need. This remarkable effort will help feed 74 children for an entire year.
Notre Dame Basketball Clinic – Dallas, TX
Thirty-one Basketbears and three coaches welcomed 27 Notre Dame students to the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center for a morning filled with basketball, friendship, and unforgettable memories. Players helped students with shooting, dribbling, and even half-court trick shots—while learning dance moves and karate tricks in return! The day wrapped up with breakfast, celebrating the power of connection and community.
Rainbow Days – Dallas, TX
Fifteen children from local shelters experienced a day of creativity, connection, and joy at Ursuline Academy of Dallas, guided by 17 incredible volunteers. During a special Arts & Crafts session, children created colorful handprints filled with messages of hope and resilience. The day concluded with a "Sunshine and Cloud" reflection activity, where some children shared that their only "cloud" was not wanting to leave!
Bingo with Together We Thrive – Dallas, TX
Ursuline students and families partnered with Together We Thrive, fostering community through a lively game of bingo. The event brought together five UA students, 8 Ursuline moms and alumnae, and more than 30 volunteers from Together We Thrive and Lincoln High School students, creating a fun and engaging environment for all.
Capital Area Food Bank – Washington, D.C.
Shannon Burton '15, Anne Simmons-Benton '74, and Ingrid Feigenbaum '06 extended the spirit of Serviam to the nation’s capital, helping to combat food insecurity by packing emergency food boxes for seniors in the Greater D.C. area.

As Ursuline Academy of Dallas marked a decade of International Serviam Day, this year’s projects reflected the deep commitment of the Ursuline community to making a difference. Whether supporting those facing food insecurity, building friendships through sports, or spreading joy through creativity, each act of service contributed to a collective mission of kindness and generosity.
Through these efforts, the Ursuline Academy of Dallas community continues to live out the meaning of Serviam—"I will serve."
