Q&A with the 2020 Mardi Gras Chairs

Mardi Gras 2020 will take place on Saturday, February 22, at the Fairmont Dallas from 6:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Mardi Gras Chairs Tiffany Luedtke, Jody Dodson, and Gina Porter answer questions about this year's gala:

Tell us about the event:

The 30th Anniversary of Mardi Gras will be a special celebration you don’t want to miss! We are raising money for scholarships and honoring the incredible women of the Haggar Family who attended and continue to support Ursuline Academy today. The scene will be set for a Masquerade Ball at the newly renovated Fairmont Dallas Hotel. Come and enjoy cocktails and a wonderful dinner with friends. Amazing packages in Live, Big Board and Silent Auction await your bidding! Dance the night away with music performed by Jordan Kahn’s Manhattan Orchestra, and try your luck at our casino - complete with great prizes hosted by the Dads Club.

What are you most excited for?

Raising money for Ursuline students! A team of volunteers have been hard at work along with Ursuline staff since the summer to create a spectacular evening for the patrons of Ursuline. Their hard work is going to culminate into a beautiful evening where our community comes together to honor our chairs, recognize the sisters and alumnae from the Haggar Family, and raise money for scholarships for future generations of Ursuline students.

Why is this event special to you?

“Behind every mask there is a face, and behind that a story.”

This summer, we discovered this quote and it has been our inspiration for this year’s gala. Volunteering for Mardi Gras has been an opportunity for us to give back for our daughters and each young woman that has had the opportunity to shape her life’s story through the Ursuline Experience.

What's new this year?

This year’s gala is a Masquerade Ball! Please feel free to purchase a mask through the Ursuline website or don your own. Proceeds from online sales will benefit deserving students through Ursuline's scholarship program. However, you are not required to wear a mask to this event.

We are also excited to present an online auction with mobile bidding this year. Registration is quick and easy and auction items will be available for bidding online prior to the event. You will be able to bid, track, and get real time results from your computer or your mobile device. Also, friends and family who cannot attend can bid for Big Board and Silent Auction items online as well. Register.

Want to crash at the Fairmont Dallas after the party? We have a block of rooms reserved, and if you want to make a night of it, you can book a room at the Fairmont for the evening at a discounted rate. Please let hotel reservations know you are attending the Ursuline Mardi Gras Gala.

What's the attire for the event?

We want you to have a memorable evening at the Masquerade Ball and we also want you to be comfortable with your chosen attire! Cocktail or black tie is encouraged for Mardi Gras this year. We would love for you to complement your look with a mask, but it is not required. Most of all, we want you to attend and join in on the fun and fundraising!

See you at the ball!
Tiffany, Jody, and Gina
