Athletic Trainer


Ursuline Academy of Dallas, founded in 1874, is an 800+ student Catholic, independent school for young women grades 9 – 12. Ursuline is dedicated to educating young women to become active members in a Global society. Ursuline is seeking a full–time Trainer.

The Trainer will be an active member of the faculty and is responsible for the service, support, and guidance of the coaching staff regarding the prevention and care of athletic injuries. This position is centered around the holistic care and support of the student-athletes both in their sport and in the classroom. The Trainer abides by all academic policies and procedures as published in the Student Handbook and promulgated by the Board of Trustees.

General Authority

The Trainer reports to the Director of Athletics who, in turn, reports to the Principal of the Academy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge and execution of current standards of care regarding the assessment, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of all athletic injuries.
  • Communicates with parents, coaches, and other medical professionals about a student-athlete’s injuries and the return to play process specific to their injury.
  • Reviews and tracks student physicals, health records, and parental release forms through RankOne.
  • Provides athletic training coverage in conjunction with the other full-time trainer, for all practices and home games.
  • Establishes designated treatment times throughout the day for student-athletes to be assessed, treated, and educated about their injuries.
  • Schedules paperwork deadlines based on the tryout dates established by coaches and Athletic Director.
  • At the annual coaches meeting, conduct health and safety training and CPR/AED/First Aid certification for coaches.
  • Provides educational seminars throughout the year for coaches and athletes. For example, ACL injury prevention and student-athlete nutrition.
  • Communicates with the personal counselors and Dean of Students Office regarding the management and status of students-athletes with concussions.
  • Conducts injury reports annually by sport to determine trends and possible means to decrease the incidence of injury and increase student-athlete health.
  • Possibly teach one Sports Medicine class per semester.
  • Performs administrative tasks as required.
  • Participate in the life of the school in events that support the Ursuline mission.

Key Requirements, Skills and Credentials

  •  Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
  •  Texas Licensed Athletic Trainer
  •  Either USAW, CSCS or CSCCA preferred
  •  CPR/First Aid/AED Certified
  •  N.A.T.A. Board Certified

  •  The enthusiasm for pursuing professional development opportunities.
  •  Strong communication skills, verbal and written, are essential.
  •  Ability to work as a collaborative team member as an integral part of the athletic   department and the school community.
  •  Ability to work evenings and weekends as required during sporting seasons.
