Parent Organizations

Many Ursuline parents are active in the Parents Association, the Mothers’ Club and the Dads’ Club. These organizations serve the needs of the school community in a variety of ways. Activities also build camaraderie among parents as well as provide for parent/daughter social and service opportunities.

Check the school calendar the school news for event dates, times and other information on upcoming activities. To learn more about how you can become involved, check the voluteer contacts page or contact the organization representatives listed below.

Parents Association
The Ursuline Academy Parents Association brings together a diverse group of parents to support the Academy. Members often become good friends outside the school, as well.

The Parents Association Board serves as a liaison between the parents and the Academy, and as an umbrella organization for many activities. The Parent Board leads the Parent’s Division of the St. Angela Merici Giving Community annual giving campaign, and supports other school service groups including the Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs.

In addition to the officers, the Parents Association Board includes the following positions: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior Class Representatives; Ursuline/Jesuit Liaison; Parent/Faculty Liaison; Communications Liaison; Book Sale Coordinator; and the Ursuline Mothers’ and Dads’ Clubs Presidents. The Parent Board meets monthly throughout the school year, and sponsors a Spring BBQ and a Meet & Greet event for new Ursuline families in April.

Mothers' Club
The Mothers' Club, organized under the umbrella organization of the Ursuline Parents Association, was founded in 1932. The purpose of this club is to assist the President and the Principal in social and cultural activities for the young women enrolled at Ursuline Academy. Membership includes all mothers and guardians of current Ursuline students.

Special emphasis is placed on activities for mothers and daughters, including the Mother/Daughter Mass and Brunch (early fall) and the Mother/Daughter Style Show (spring). The Mothers’ Club also hosts receptions for major school events including:

Freshman Convocation October
Fall Open House November
Sophomore Serviam Liturgy February
Junior Ring Ceremony April
Graduation May

Mothers’ Club volunteers make and sell Homecoming Mums to benefit the Ursuline Scholarship Fund (fall).

“An Evening of Reflection,” an annual Lenten retreat, is sponsored by the Club. The Mothers’ Club further serves the Ursuline community through the “Mentor Mom” program for new Ursuline parents, “Meals from Moms” for families experiencing crises, and by offering an electronic prayer chain.

Dads' Club

The Ursuline Dads’ Club was established in 1988 as a self-funding organization to support the Ursuline community. The Dads’ Club welcomes all Academy fathers to participate in dad/daughter events and other activities held throughout the year. The organization sponsors a full slate of activities including:

Dad/Daughter Dance Fall
Faculty Cookout Fall
Dad's Golf Tournament Fall
Dad/Daughter Pumpkin Carving October
Dad/Daughter Bowling Tournament February
Dad/Daughter Golf Tournament Spring

Each year, the Club decorates the campus for Christmas, creating a beautiful and festive setting for the holidays.

Each year, the Dad’s Club organizes a major all-day Dad/Daughter Community Service project. Recent projects have included renovation of The Brady Center and The Marillac Community Center, Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School, and St. Augustine Catholic School. Ursuline dads and daughters painted, recarpeted, made repairs, and restocked pantries, refurbishing these neighborhood resource centers to better serve those in need.

Parents of Alumnae Association (PAA)
The Ursuline Academy Parents of Alumnae Association was formed in 2001 to encourage parents of alumnae and their daughters to continue and strengthen their relationship with the Ursuline community. The organization has grown rapidly over the past three years, as parents of alumnae of all ages have gathered to reconnect in the spirit of fun and friendship.

The PAA takes a leadership role in efforts to reestablish contact with past parents and to create opportunities for parent of alumnae involvement in major Ursuline community events. All parents of alumnae are invited to attend a Mardi Gras Casino Underwriting party in the fall. The group also sponsors a PAA gift gathering party to benefit the Mardi Gras Ball in January. Each year, PAA volunteers lead the St. Angela Merici Giving Community PAA Division annual giving campaign.

In addition to a slate of officers, the PAA Board includes: Decade Representatives, 1970s through 2000s; Mardi Gras Ball Committee Liaison; Dads’ and Mothers’ Clubs Liaisons; and Liaisons to both the Parents and Alumnae Boards.
