Serviam

The motto of Ursuline Academy is Serviam, "I will serve." The spirit of Serviam is a core value in the Ursuline experience. That spirit is lived out as students unselfishly share their gifts of time and talent to serve those in need. At the heart of everything we do at Ursuline, Serviam is the single most important guidepost for our actions as people of faith.

Serviam combines student initiative, where students seek their own ways to serve the community, and service opportunities planned by the school through Campus Ministry or school clubs. The goal is for students to embrace a lifelong commitment to community support, consistent with the Academy's mission to encourage leadership and service in all areas. Above all, Serviam is part of an ongoing process of spiritual formation whereby students explore the call to service and discipleship.

All students participate in Serviam each semester, culminating in at least 100 hours of service by graduation. In freshman, sophomore, and junior year, students are encouraged to participate in the many activities organized to serve non-profit agencies supported by Ursuline. Many students exceed the yearly commitment of hours for each grade level.

In senior year, each student is matched with an agency to work off-campus to share their gifts with neighbors in need.
