Attending to the needs of student-athletes

Athletic Training at Ursuline

Athletic training is practiced by Athletic Trainers, health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients.

Students who want to become certified Athletic Trainers must earn a degree from an accredited athletic training curriculum. Accredited programs include formal instruction in areas such as injury/illness prevention, first aid and emergency care, assessment of injury/illness, human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic modalities, and nutrition. Classroom learning is enhanced through clinical education experiences.

Injuries and Reporting

All injuries sustained during Ursuline-sanctioned athletic practices or competitions MUST be reported to Ursuline’s Athletic Trainer Andrea Santos within 24 hours of injury.

  • Attention Coaches: Please fill out this form to report an injury.
  • Need to see the Athletic Trainer for evaluation or rehabilitation? Email Brady Hoyt to set up an appointment. Please include your name, sport, and nature of the injury. He will schedule a time to see you either before/after school, or during lunch/advisory period.

Please do not drop in during class time unless it is an emergency or you are stopping by to sign up for an appointment. If a significant, non-emergency injury occurs during a practice or away game, all coaches are instructed to call the athletic trainer.

ALL athletes who see a doctor for an illness or injury affecting their ability to participate in athletics MUST inform the athletic trainer immediately. Written documentation from the doctor releasing the athlete to modified or full participation must be turned in to the athletic trainer within 24 hours. If the athlete is referred to a doctor by the athletic trainer, the parents/guardians will first be contacted.
